GROUP RESEARCH

Description of the Activity:

In group research activity, students are enabled to do detailed research about a topic in small groups. In line with their research, groups create ideas, decisions and solution proposals about the topic.

Aim of the Activity:

1. To make students attain cooperative skills.

2. With task distributions in the group, to develop sense of responsibility.

3. To create multidirectional interaction between the students.

4. To create supportive learning products such as leadership, sharing, criticizing.

5. To make the students acquire research skills.

 

Implementation Steps:

1. Groups of 3-6 are formed.

2. Each group is given a problem on which a new idea can be created and solution suggestions can be presented.

3. Necessary guidance for group members to work and task divisions in the group are done.

4. Individualization of work done in group is prevented.

5. A mutual report belonging to each group is required and these reports are shared in the class.

6. Strengths and weaknesses of each group are discussed in the class.

 

Evaluation:

In the activity, students take part in the process of evaluation by providing feedback on the reports of other groups. In evaluation, division of tasks in the work should be considered as well as the content of the research and most important criteria in the assessment tool should be on cooperative working.

 

Additional Information:

 The problems that will be given for group work should be clear and comprehensible. For the purpose of guiding the students, 3-4 keywords that are appropriate for the topic can be given.
